Each year, the Taranaki members work together to produce the Taranaki Children’s Book festival, a region-wide celebration of books and reading for primary and intermediate aged children.

Lynne Walker has a long association with the Hawera Library. She belonged to the library as a child, and returned in 2001 to become the South Taranaki District Council’s first district librarian.
