Taranaki

The Taranaki region has 4 members. Libraries in the region include Puke Ariki in New Plymouth and the Alexander Heritage and Research Library in Whanganui, which was built in 1933 and now houses family and local history resources.

Each year, the Taranaki members work together to produce the Taranaki Children’s Book festival, a region-wide celebration of books and reading for primary and intermediate aged children.

The Taranaki Region has had a very busy few months! Puke Ariki launched their new wellness initiative, Turn the Page, and Wanganui staff are very busy with about 400,000 visitors this year, a new ebooks launch for members, and a possible mobile app on the horizon. Meanwhile, South Taranaki has just held their annual Ronald Hugh Morrieson Literary Awards Evening, which now includes poetry.
