The Hawke’s Bay/Manawatu Region comprises nine members, mainly rural public libraries such as Wairoa and Rangitikei, with a few larger libraries such as Palmerston North. This region now also includes Gisborne.
The region has been at the forefront of several nationally-acclaimed projects with a community focus, such as the East Coast’s Summer Reading Programme for children and young adults and Horowhenua’s Kete and Koha projects. The region features several libraries of interest, from the Kimbolton Community Library in a two-room 19th century cottage, to the Hastings War Memorial Library and the new Taradale Library.
