Jill Best, General Manager Libraries

Jill Best has been involved in libraries for most of her life. Even when she took time out from the workforce when her three children were young she worked as a volunteer school librarian, teaching other mothers how to mend books and giving talks on the value of the library. She also reorganised her husband's work library under contract. Jill loves working in libraries because there is always something different going on, and because libraries change lives. Jill runs a project supporting the public libraries in Fiji, providing advice, and rounding up donations of books and computers. In the last three years, she has been involved in shipping about 34,000 books and 75 computers to Fiji. Now that her children are grown up and living on three different continents, Jill’s favourite pastime is travel.
